Powerful Women Collective, formerly Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast, carries forward more than two decades of helping women in business connect, learn, share resources and create opportunities for one another.

Promote, advance and improve women in business.
Powerful Women Collective works to improve the conditions for women in business by expanding access to technology, education, strategic relationships, practical resources and opportunities.
Our vision is a Gulf Coast business community where women have stronger access to the tools, networks and support that help businesses grow and communities prosper.
Our Story
It began after Hurricane Ivan with three women and a lunch.
When the physical and business landscape of Pensacola changed in 2004, three businesswomen came together to support each other. What they discovered was simple and powerful: women share guidance differently when the room feels safe, useful and collaborative.

Following Hurricane Ivan, Kolleen Chesley and two other Pensacola businesswomen met to share encouragement and business guidance.

The informal lunch grew into recurring gatherings centered on practical support, professional development and connection.

Founder & Leadership
Kolleen Chesley
Founding Director
Kolleen’s work with Powerful Women began from lived experience. As a financial advisor whose business relied heavily on face-to-face networking, Hurricane Ivan changed how she worked and how she connected. The supportive lunch she shared with two other businesswomen became the starting point for a larger community.
Today, Kolleen continues to lead Powerful Women Collective with a focus on practical action: stronger business networks, better access to resources, upgraded technology, community partnerships and opportunities for women to advocate for themselves and one another.

We are intentionally not carrying forward stale governance information from the former website. Current leadership and governance information will be maintained here as verified.
